Balanga (Odisha) [India], August 4(ANI): Expressing grief over the death of the 15-year-old girl who was allegedly set on fire by miscreants in Balanga, Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida on Monday said no price or position could ever bring the girl back, and urged people to stop politicising the family’s pain.
Speaking to reporters she said, “For the last 15 days, the government is consecutively doing what it was supposed to. We tried very hard to save her. Medicines were brought in from abroad, she was airlifted to Delhi for treatment within 24 hours, and even today, the government stands with her family. The government will fulfil all their requirements. A poor family that has lost their daughter are appealing to everyone to let them live peacefully.”
“I request everyone in the state not to bother them and help the family if they can… I am ready to give 100 such resignations which can revive a dead person, but I do not like it if anyone is doing politics over this poor girl who is no more,” she added.
Earlier in the day, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and MLA Pipili Ashrit Pattanayak expressed grief.
Pattanayak told ANI on late Sunday evening, “It is a tragic incident that happened in our region. Everyone tried a lot to save her (the victim of the Balanga incident), but she died. Her mortal remains have reached here. We express our grief in such a moment.”
BJP leader Samir Das told ANI, “This is a matter of sorrow…The Odisha government made a lot of efforts…but we could not save her…The police are investigating this case. So, let us wait for its completion…”
Meanwhile, the mortal remains of a 15-year-old girl who was allegedly set on fire by miscreants on July 19 in Balanga from Puri district, arrived in Odisha on Sunday evening.
The 15-year-old girl succumbed to her burn injuries on Saturday while undergoing treatment at AIIMS in the national capital, after the incident.
The body reached Bhubaneswar airport from AIIMS Delhi. Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida pays final tribute to the Balanga victim.
According to the police, the minor girl went out with her friends, but she was allegedly abducted midway and taken to the riverside, where she was set on fire. (ANI)
